I wrote this imagined scene as a fun side project, and I dare say that I liked writing the second person viewpoint. I hope you enjoy it too!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Imagine that seconds after you fell through a portal, you opened your eyes and beheld the most glorious thing you’d ever dreamed of. You would then look around at all the vibrant colors of a sunset painting this new world, and see that you were standing at the edge of a vast plain. And then you would look some more, and see little rabbits with horns like rhinos hopping among the golden grass. Then you would take a step further, and find that the music of redbirds was almost like Beethoven’s 5th Symphony, and that with every crescendo of sound, a dragon would launch from a faraway mountain, swooping over the plain almost close enough for you to reach out and touch it. You can almost taste the dragon’s heavy breath, but not quite.
And then you take another step -or try to- and you find yourself falling, until--
You open your eyes and find that it was all a dream, that life has to go on, and you won’t be able to visit your imagined land until tonight when you fall asleep again.
You sigh and look around your dull bedroom, feeling the weight of your own world settle upon your shoulders once again, and, with one last longing look at your bed, you leave the room.
It's not something I usually write, but I feel it portrays the emotion of dreams well. Goodbye for now!
